Like a Coiled Spring by EBDojo Like a Coiled Spring by EBDojo
This is a work I did after watching some Juuni Kokki, or as they call it in the States, "The Twelve Kingdoms." The series has a lot of great drama and character development -- my one concern of the subject is that Rakushuun doesn't have a big enough role! Anyway, something that was tough about this was trying to maintain the sense of balance without taking away the tensed look of her body. Whatcha think?

Twelve Kindgoms.... that sounds familiar.. really familiar. Any more info on it?

She's gorgeous. Really gorgeous. And you have great sense of proportions (as I've already mentioned.. I just can't get over it! xD) It's a truly dynamic stance and really eyecatching! 'You tend you draw just lineart or do you occasionally colour too?

Usually I just do lineart and toning. I should really do colors more often but for one, I'm not too good at it and two, I don't have a tablet, so digital coloring takes FOREVER and doesn't look natural. That leaves me with hand-coloring, and I'm really afraid of messing up my drawings... I probably will bite the bullet someday and just start doing it, but meanwhile I'm scared out of my wits. Do you have any suggestions?

And! Twelve Kingdoms! It's a series about a high school girl who finds out that she's the queen of the country of Kei in an parallel universe! Lame-sounding so far, but throw in that this world is downright righteous, has an intricate and well-developed natural balance, and some glorious characters and character-development, then you've got a great series! The only problem with it is that the original character designer got sick and stopped working on the anime project, and the author doesn't want anyone other than them to do it. Soooo... the last dozen or so episodes are just 3-5 episode story chapters and then the anime suddenly just stops. Good news for me is that the original books are starting to come out in the US -- hopefully the second will be translated soon!

I don't have a tablet either. Wish I did! I've tasted the delicious necter of having a tablet before and nothing else compareeeeeeeeeess ~ *float*

I'm sure you've noticed that I have more recently come onto the scene with coloured work, no? [link] check the rest of my gallery. Do you notice a trend? There is more pencil work than colouring! Any colouring is kind of scattered around oddly in my gallery until you hit the top. Why? I had the EXACT same fear. I couldn't live with myself if I destroyed any of my sketches. Wanna hear what I did to rid myself of that problem? n___o It's really simple, actually, but you have to have a scanner and a printer.

I looked it up on Wikipedia! It sounds really fantastic! mmm.. I'm in Canada, though, so how long will it take for it to get up here? xDDD aahah
